BABSON PARK, Mass. - Middlesex junior tennis sensation Declan Power (Concord, Mass.) was crowned the 2026 United States Tennis Association (USTA) Massachusetts High School State Singles Champion on Monday afternoon.

Power won six matches in the 64 player draw over a three-day span, culminating in his straight set victory in the championship match.

The win for Power gives Middlesex consecutive individual state champions following Lach McCaghren winning in 2025.

Power's title journey began on Saturday morning in the round of 64 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Wellesley High's Arthas Goutham. The day continued with another straight set triumph, this time a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Ethan Tran of Boston Latin.

The tournament's top seed, Power only needed to play one match on Sunday and he rolled past No. 7 seed Ben Svetlov, 6-0, 6-0 to advance to the semifinals.

Now into the final four, where three of the top four seeds remained, Power breezed into the championship match with a relatively easy 6-0, 6-1 victory over Lexington's Joshua Chen.

In the final, he squared off against fifth-seeded Johnny Wastcoat, who upset Raj Jay, the No. 2 seed in the quarterfinals and No. 4 seed Daniel Lee in the semifinals. As he did the entire tournament, Power made quick work of his opponent, collecting a 6-4, 6-0 title clinching win.

Power, who helped Middlesex to a berth in the NEPSAC Class B semifinals and a 16-4 overall record, will undoubtedly return for his senior campaign as one of New England's best players.
