BELMONT, Mass. - It was sweet redemption for Bucknell-bound high jump star Brendan McCullen (Acton, Mass.) who claimed the individual crown leading Middlesex to a sixth place finish at the Independent School League (ISL) track and field championships on Sunday afternoon.
McCullen finished second a year ago but returned in 2026 to post a first place finish with a leap of 6-4, outdistancing Groton's Kaysan Marinez (6-2).
Overall, the Zebras totaled 40 points, while league champion Belmont Hill racked up 108 points and were followed by Roxbury Latin (104.50), Noble and Greenough (61), Thayer Academy (60.50) and Tabor Academy (51).
Aidan Canty-Whitt (Concord, Mass.), who broke his own school record a week ago in the discus, reset his own mark with a throw of 137-08, good enough to finish fourth, while teammates Josh Richards (Worcester, Mass.) and Caelen Meade (Bronx, N.Y.) posted sixth (119-03) and eighth (112-01) place, respectively.
In the triple jump, Orion Saunders (Westford, Mass.) finished third with a leap of 42-09.50 and in the javelin, Caleb Mitchell (Sudbury, Mass.) turned in a sixth-place performance with a throw of 139-11.
Richards, meanwhile, followed up his showing in the discus with a second place finish in the shot put (45-0.25).
Also registering a second place event finish was Tyler Martinez (Concord, Mass.), who blazed his way to second in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:59.10.
Middlesex wraps up its season on Saturday when they travel to Governor's Academy for the NEPSTA Division II Championships.
