CONCORD, Mass. - The Middlesex boys tennis team won its fourth match in as many tries on Thursday afternoon, defeating ISL foe, Governor's Academy, 7-0.
The win for the Zebras (4-0) matches their start from a season ago where they finished an impressive 13-4 and advanced to the second round of the NEPSAC Class B Tournament.
As they have in their previous matches this season, Middlesex made quick work of their doubles competition, with Lach McCaghren (Lincoln, Mass.) and Luke Felago (Duxbury, Mass.) at No. 1 and the combination of Declan Power (Concord, Mass.) and Tim Zhao (Guangdong, China) at No. 2 both winning 8-0.
Meanwhile, Drake Gallien (Bangkok, Thailand) and Milo Schubnel (Concord, Mass.) at No. 3 posted an 8-2 win at No. 3, giving the host Zebras the doubles point.
Things stayed pretty much the same in singles action with Power (No. 2), Felago (No. 3) and Calvin Sun (Repulse Bay, Hong Kong) at No. 6, all winning 8-0. McCaghren, meanwhile, faced very little resistance at No. 1, winning his matchup, 8-1.
The best battles were at No. 4 and No. 5, where Gallien outlasted Karsten Sze, 8-7 and Schubnel eventually bested Alex Baca, 7-5.
The busy week for Middlesex continues with a road trip to ISL powerhouse, Noble and Greenough on Saturday. First serve is slated for 2:30 PM.
