BRAINTREE, Mass. - As they have been all season, the Middlesex boys track and field squad were incredibly strong in field events on their way to a third place finish at the Thayer meet hosted on Wednesday afternoon on Sawyer Track.

Aidan Canty-Whitt (Concord, Mass.) collected his first victory of the season in the shot put with a throw of 45-7.25 on his third attempt, besting teammate Josh Richards (Worcester, Mass.), who finished second with his best throw of 45-4.25.

Richards was second again, this time in the discus where his throw of 106-11 was edged out by teammate Caelen Meade (Bronx, N.Y.) and his throw of 109-3.

Meanwhile, Orion Saunders (Westford, Mass.) continued his dominance at the long jump, claiming his second individual crown this season with a leap of 20-11.75.

Bucknell-bound high jumping phenom Brendan McCullen (Acton, Mass.) won the event again with a season-best tying leap of 6-4.

On the track, Tyler Martinez (Concord, Mass.) was third in the 1500 meter run (4:21.54), while Chase Phillips (Concord, Mass.) and Julian Barber (Concord, Mass.) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, with times of 10:30.92 (Phillips) and 10:34.01 (Barber).
