MARION, Mass. - The Middlesex girls track and field team flexed their muscles on Saturday afternoon, collecting a first place finish in a quad-meet that featured ISL rivals Tabor Academy, Rivers and non-league foe, Worcester Academy.
Middlesex finished with 78 points, followed by Tabor Academy (72.5), Worcester Academy (62.5) and Rivers (31).
Two student-athletes -
Grace-Ann Bailey (Kingston, Jamaica) and
Stella Curwin-Amfitheatrof (Bridgewater, Conn.) won multiple individual events while several others won events of their own.
Bailey posted a personal best in the 100 meter run with a time of 13:15 and also took top honors in the high jump at 5-feet, 5-inches.
Curwin-Amfitheatrof, meanwhile, posted season-best times in both the 1500 meters (5:09.18) and 3000 meters (11:22.46).
Cassidy Bruno (Andover, Mass.), meanwhile, led a 1-2-3 Zebra contingent in the 800-meter run as she finished first (2:35.66), followed by
Jude Hebb (Princeton, Mass.) and
Kate Tantillo (Concord, Mass.), who both finished in 2:38.76 and 2:44.43, respectively.Â
Bruno was then a part of two first-place relay teams beginning with the 4x100 squad that included Bailey,
Perry Manekas (Winchester, Mass.) and
Milani Nakamura (Sullivans Island, S.C.). That foursome posted a time of 52.74, while Bruno and Manekas also paired with
Marvelous Ugwu (Hyde Park, Mass.) and
Nadia Abdinoor (Lexington, Mass.) to finish first in the 4x400 in 4:37.69.
Freshman
Olivia Oates (Brookline, Mass.) had a strong afternoon as well, finishing first with a personal best in the 300 meter hurdles (55.47) and second in the 100 meter hurdles (22.00).
Middlesex has a busy week upcoming with a meet at Thayer on Wednesday and then another one at Groton on Saturday.
