MARION, Mass. - The Middlesex boys track and field team produced a solid performance on Saturday afternoon, finishing third in a five-team meet hosted by Tabor Academy.
The Zebras totaled 80 points, finishing behind the host Seawolves (99.5) and Belmont Hill (98.5) while Worcester Academy (50) and Rivers (16) rounded out the field.
Four different individuals and one relay team won events for Middlesex, led by
Tyler Martinez (Concord, Mass.), who won the 800 meter run in a time of 2:06.89 and he was a key cog in the first place finish for the 4x400 relay squad that also featured
Theo Moore (Louisville, Ky.),
Kyle McConnell (Kingston, Jamaica) and
Felix Wetzel (Concord, Mass.).
Meanwhile, Moore was also a double winner, after his individual victory in the 300 meter hurdles (48.41), besting a season-best performance from teammate
David Hernandez-Menjivar (52.95).
Josh Richards (Worcester, Mass.) took top honors in the shot put with a throw of 45-08.50, while
Jordan Reid-Strachan (Toronto, Ontario) produced a throw of 34-11.00, putting two Zebras in the top four.
Brendan McCullen (Acton, Mass.), meanwhile, continues to shine in the high jump, finishing first with a leap of 6-04.00.
Other strong performances included
Caleb Mitchell (Sudbury, Mass.) finishing second in the javelin (117-02) and personal best discus throw from
Caelen Meade (Bronx, N.Y.) that resulted in a fourth place effort and another personal best - this time from
Julian Barber (Concord, Mass.) in the 3000 meters (10:32.34).
