Concord, Mass. - Host Middlesex used a pair of tiebreakers in single matches and rallied for a thrilling 5-4 victory over ISL powerhouse Noble and Greenough on Saturday afternoon.

The win for the Zebras evens their overall record at 2-2. Nobles, meanwhile, falls to 0-2 a season after going 13-3 and advancing to the semifinals of the NEPSAC Class A tournament.

Nobles actually won two of the three singles matches but the Middlesex combination of Stella Mourtzinos (Westford, Mass.) and Sophia Shiatis (Cambridge, Mass.) toppled Indira Nalwaya and Bixie Selkoe 8-4 at No. 2 to keep it from being a clean sweep for the Bulldogs.

Zoe Le (Greenwich, Conn.) got Middlesex headed in the right direction when she delivered a straight set decision over Lila Hurlbut (6-0, 6-2) at No. 2, while Katie Le (Greenwich, Conn.) followed up with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Nalwaya at No. 3.

The battle at No. 6 between Emily Francini (Concord, Mass.) and Aubrey Hood saw Francini take the first set, 6-2 but Hood bounced back to even the match with her 6-4 win in the second set. Francini then went on to take the tiebreaker, 10-5.

All eyes then shifted to the back and forth affair at No. 4 with the Zebras' Shaitis taking the first set, 6-2 but Nobles' Selkoe rallying to take the second, 6-4. The tiebreaker was riveting as Shiatis put away the 12-10 decision to win the match for Middlesex.

Winners of back-to-back matches, Middlesex will travel to Milton for a 3:00 PM start with the Mustangs.
