Concord, Mass. - The Middlesex boys varsity tennis squad opened up their 2026 campaign with a 6-1 win over crosstown rival, Concord Academy in non-league action on Tuesday afternoon.
The match, which was moved inside because of rain, saw the host Zebras (1-0) win five of the six singles matches en route to victory.
Lach McCaghren (Lincoln, Mass.) and
Luke Felago (Duxbury, Mass.) teamed up to win at first singles, 8-3.
Drake Gallien (Bangkok, Thailand) and
Calvin Sun (Repulse Bay, Hong Kong) also earned an 8-4 victory at No. 3 doubles to help the Zebras secure the doubles point.
In singles action, McCaghren breezed to a 6-1, 6-1 win at first singles, while Felago added a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at No. 3 and Gallien rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6.
Milo Schunbel (Concord, Mass.) dropped his first set, before rallying for a 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 marathon win at No. 4. Â
Middlesex is off until Saturday when they jump into Independent School League (ISL) action with a road trip to Saint Mark's. First serve is slated for 2:30 PM.
