CONCORD, Mass. - Buoyed by a raucous crowd, the Middlesex offense erupted for three third period goals en route to a thrilling, 4-2, come-from-behind win over Independent School League (ISL) and Eberhart Division rival Groton on Thursday evening.

The victory bumps the Zebras overall record to 10-12-3, snapping a brief three game winless streak and send its three seniors - Charlie Brand (Lunenburg, Mass.), Matt Cloutier (Point Claire, Quebec) and Jason Danahy (Natick, Mass.) - out with a win in the final career contests at Pratt.

After a scoreless first period, Middlesex took a 1-0 lead when Luke Sardone (Winchester, Mass.) scored less than two minutes into the second period when he grabbed a loose puck at the blue line and raced up the ice, blasting a shot from the left side.

Groton evened the score midway through the frame when Elliot Wood pounced on a rebound off of a Nolan Wilson shot and slipped it into the back of the net.

The visitors then took the lead when Owen Cronan took advantage of a Middlesex turnover at center ice and converted into a 2-1 Groton edge less than a minute into the third period.

Incredibly, Middlesex erupted for three goals in the final three minutes of the third period, starting when Sardone scored the equalizer from the blue line on the man advantage with help from Matt Palmer (Melrose, Mass.) with 2:05 left in regulation.

Less than a minute later, Middlesex snagged the lead when Groton had a costly turnover of their own near center ice. Parker Boyce (Natick, Mass.) intercepted an errant pass and moved into the visitors' zone, slicing between two defenders to fire a shot. The rebound came right back to him and he gave the hosts a 3-2 lead when he sent a low shot in between the legs of the Groton netminder.

Sardone then sealed the win when he outmuscled a Groton defender for the puck on the right side of the goal and then sent a rocket past a second defender for his third goal of the night.

Middlesex will close out its 2025-26 season with a road trip to archrival Saint George's on Saturday. Puck drops at 1:45 PM in Middletown, R.I.
