Concord, Mass. - Middlesex hosted Milton Academy in an early evening match up with an energetic home crowd. While the final result looked one-sided, there was plenty to be proud of from the home performance.
In the sixth minute, midfield dynamo
Billy Zuze pressed onto a Milton defender and forced a high turnover for
Adriano Valmora to latch on to. Valmora cut back on his right and curled the ball past the keeper from 12 yards out and straight towards the side net only for it to be saved by a diving center back at the back post.
Milton combined well through wide play and hard runs from the midfield to set up their scoring chances. The difference was the efficiency in taking the chances, as Milton's seven shots on target resulted in five goals and Middlesex's five shots on target did not find the back of the net, thanks to some solid goalkeeping and retreating defenders who blocked shots.
For Milton, Dino Gavetti, Ethan Fine, and Emmanuel Cheyo stood out and Middlesex's standout players were Valmora, Zuze, and
Chris De Morais.
Middlesex is back in action on Wednesday when they visit Lawrence Academy for a 3:00 PM start.
