St. Sebastian's Sneaks Past BVS, 2-1

10/22/2025 9:28:00 AM

NEEDHAM, Mass. - Middlesex traveled to St. Sebastian's on a sunny Saturday for their Homecoming Game and it was a tight and competitive contest.

The goals were flowing in the early minutes, which led to a 1-1 score line at halftime. In the fourth minute, Adriano Valmora (Montreal, Quebec) beat his man on the dribble and slipped a ball through the interior channel for an onrushing Bryan Mayhew (Kingston, Jamaica), who rounded the keeper and cut the ball back off the post. The surging Colin Hope (Barrington, R.I.) was there to smash it home for the early lead.

Saint Sebastian's responded from the immediate kickoff with a long ball to the right flank that was taken by Collins and squared into the six yard box for Straub to tuck home from close range.

The match winner was a scrappy goal scored by Christian Martinex-Moule from a set piece where he got a looping header over the outstretched keeper's hand and just under the crossbar.

Middlesex felt like they could have earned a result on the day, as they produced more shots than the host and had the lion's share of the possession stats at 62 percent for Middlesex and 38 percent for the Arrows. Saint Sebastian's goalkeeper, JD Munro, and senior center back Finn Noonan stood out for the home team. Will McCarthy (Concord, Mass.) was excellent for Middlesex in defense and distribution of the ball. It was a spirited and well-played match between two quality ISL teams.
