Belmont Hill Stops Zebras, 3-0

10/15/2025 5:32:00 PM

CONCORD, Mass. - Belmont Hill came to play on the turf at Middlesex on a picturesque Wednesday fall afternoon. The first half was deadlocked for a long stretch until Belmont Hill's Adonai Samuel took matters into his own hands. Samuel picked the ball up at midfield on a counterattack and drove all the way into the penalty area before depositing the ball just inside the right post for a 1-0 lead midway through the half.

Bryan Mayhew collected a pass from Mahad Garad and turned in the box to beat the keeper with a shot that was saved on the line by a Belmont Hill defender.

With just a few minutes left in the half, Samuel picked the ball up in the left corner and drove past three defenders before launching a cross that took an unfortunate deflection off a Middlesex defender and into the net.

Middlesex applied more pressure through Colin Hope, Adriano Valmora, and Mayhew in the second half, but the only goal came on a breakaway after a free header was played into the chest of striker Tiernan Emmert. He collected the ball and
buried the breakaway for the only tally of the second half.

Hope had a few great looks at goal, but the finishing touch was not to be found. Sam Lawrence and Blake DaCosta stood strong in the Belmont Hill back line and Samuel generated all of their attacking threats.

For Middlesex Hanad Garad put in a strong shift in the midfield. Middlesex dropped their second match of the season and look to bounce back on Saturday away to a tough St. Sebastian's team.
