The Zebras came out flat after a trip up to Governors for their third game in five days. Unfortunately, the Govs took advantage, running out with an 8-0 lead in the first quarter. The Zebras reset at the break, resulting in a 3-4 quarter with the attack earning valuable free positions. In the third quarter, the Zebras were held scoreless, but the defense held the Govs to just two tallies. In the fourth quarter the Zebras continued to fight, but could not bring the spirits up enough to rally. A Govs goal in the final seconds took the wind out of the team's sails, but they came off the field ready to refocus and practice for the next game. Midfielders Katie Athanasoulas, Siena Berardinelli, and Avery Taylor combined for 12 contested ground balls, and defenders Therese Ejiofor and Tate McMurray had solid games for the Zebras. The four goals were scored by ninth graders Bracken, Curry, and Pinney. The team will look to refocus and re-energize as they look to the next away game at Tabor on Saturday.
