The Zebras ended their regular season with a nail-biter against the Knights of BBN. Middlesex came out on a mission, scoring the first two goals thanks to senior Katie Athanasoulas and Ninth Grader Addie Curry, but the Knights were able to answer. The game went back and forth and ended in a 6-6 tie at halftime. The Knights capitalized on a few Zebra errors and took a two goal lead in the third, but the Zebras refused to stop fighting. While it seemed BBN had the edge with a late three goal lead, Lucia Cook scored with 50 seconds remaining to bring it back. After a timeout, the Zebras went for it, but were unable to even it as the time ticked down. Athanasoulas had a career-high four goals on the day and combined with seniors Siena Berardinelli, Therese Ejiofor, Avery Taylor, and Tate McMurray for several contested ground balls and caused turnovers in the defensive end. Injured senior Esme Coes, Regan Fitzgerald, and Katie Mullowney, back from her surgery, were courageous and supportive teammates as they watched their fellow seniors battle in their honor today. Middlesex looks forward to competing in the ISL tournament next week.Â
