After practicing for one day as a team, the Zebras took on the veteran Exeter squad on their home turf. Exeter got off to a good start with a patient and disciplined attack. The defensive unit led by seniors Tate M. and Avery T. were relentless on cutters and 1v1s. Still, the seasoned Exeter attack found the back of the net. Middlesex eventually gained footing in the attack, creating opportunities and eventually finding the back of the net. Down by 8 at the half, the Zebras came out firing in the second half and eventually closed the deficit to 6, winning the second half 6-4.
Ninth grader Lev Lynch and tenth grader Lily McTeague shared time in the net with Lily making her first varsity save and Lev notching 5 on the day. Five ninth graders made their debut in the defense (Thea Salem), midfield (Lucy McGaraghan), and attack (Ryan Pinney and Addie Curry) and Ellie Bracken '27 scored her first career goal as a Zebra. While the outcome was not what the team hoped, they learned a lot, improved throughout the game, and will look forward to continuing to work in the next two days in preparation for Williston Northampton on Saturday.
