Girls' Cross Country won against Rivers on Friday 17-42, executing their race plan perfectly; twelve runners clocked all-time 5k personal records, and each MX competitor ran her best race of the season. Stella Curwin-Amfitheatrof established a gap on the field from the start, running away with the win in a time of 19:38. Two Middlesex teammates followed next, with Cassidy Bruno and Angela Huffer finishing in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Rivers's first runner finished next with a strong performance, followed by a Middlesex trio that has run together all season: Maggie Cabot finished in 5th, Katie Tantillo in 6th, and Pipsa Palatsi in 7th. Allison Luo was not far behind, completing the Middlesex varsity seven in 12th place.
Though Rivers pulled off a win in the JV matchup, the Middlesex JV runners ran tough, gutsy races, with nearly every single JV runner running the fastest time they had ever run over the 5k distance. Sue Hayashi crossed the line as the second JV finisher, followed by Marvelous Ugwu in 4th and Charlotte Friedmann in 8th. Jessica Wu, Celine Ding, Linda Wang, Eva Zhao and Lucy Wu also had fantastic races for Middlesex.
Middlesex girls' varsity cross country ends its regular ISL season with ten wins and one loss. The team will race at the ISL Championships in Wrentham this Friday.
