MX hosted the hard-hitting Dexter team and prevailed 6-1 in a vigorously contested match. At #1 and #2 Anjali ('27) and Arya ('24) Mehta each won 3-0. At #7 Mia Nolin ('27) soon adjusted to the power of her opponent and also won 3-0. At #6 Claire Rye ('27) found her stride midway through the first game, using power hitting to drive her opponent back and also prevailed 3-0. At #5 Ashwini Menon ('25) struggled with her opponent's crosscourts and short game at first and lost the first game, but by using consistent length, hitting with power and then adding variety, she came back to take the last three games and win 3-1. Last on court at #3, Katie Chen ('26) got off to a fast start in each of the first two games, using her pinpoint shots to the back corners as well as hard low kill shots, and then withstood her opponent's vigorous comeback in each game, to win the first two games 11-8, 11-8. The third game was more even all along, and while Katie had a match point at 10-9 and a few times thereafter, and her opponent had game balls at 15-14 and 16-15, the match was not settled until Katie played a couple of strong points, displaying excellent shot selection and court coverage, to prevail 18-16 in the third and win 3-0. Next up, Pomfret on Saturday and Brooks the following Wednesday.
