Middlesex Girls' Soccer traveled to Southborough on Saturday to kick off their 2023 ISL season against St. Mark's. With the threat of rain in the forecast, kickoff was moved up to 1:00p, and the Zebras were ready from the outset. MXGVS applied good pressure all over the field, but were unable to get the ball past SMS's goalkeeper, who played very well. The half arrived with the game still scoreless. 

Middlesex continued to press and create chances, but the St. Mark's defense kept the Zebras at bay. It wasn't until late in the game when tri-captain Ally Haines '24 took the ball down the left side and fired a shot from well outside the box that curled over the goalkeeper and into the far side netting. Middlesex was able to see that goal through to the final whistle, and traveled home joyfully with a 1-0 victory.

The Zebras return to Chapel Field to take on Tabor Academy next Wednesday.
