The Zebras opened with an unusual trip to St. George's on a Monday for their first game and league matchup of the season. After five minutes of early back and forth play, Middlesex notched the first two goals of the game, just 7 seconds apart to take a 2-0 lead. The Dragons fired back notching the next four unanswered goals to take a 4-2 lead. The Zebras answered with a grit goal, but gave up two more to St. George's in a player down, 2 minute stretch. Down 6-3 with 3 minutes in the half, the Zebras fought back and scored two hard-earned goals to bring the score to 5-6 at halftime in St. George's favor. The Dragons struck first just a minute into the half, but that would be their last of day as Middlesex made adjustments both offensively and defensively. Both teams played a fast and physical game and the play went back and forth, but Middlesex took control of the game and the offense was ignited by huge plays in the defensive end led by Katie, Avery, Siena, Tate, and Sydney Cogliano. The offense went on a five goal scoring streak throughout the half and the defense stiffened on each set to keep the Dragons scoreless for nearly 24 minutes.
