Middlesex opened the 2023 William W. Barber, Jr. Memorial Tournament with a decisive win over Worcester Academy. Middlesex got on the scoreboard first, but Worcester answered back quickly with a goal of their own, leaving the first period to end tied 1-1. Middlesex quickly ended the stalemate with two goals during the second period and secured the win with two more goals in the third period. While Middlesex's offense was churning and burning throughout the game, their victory was equally due to steadfast defensive play and steady goaltending. Middlesex heads to the semi-final game of the Barber tournament against the Hill School.

Hill - Barber Tournament Game 2

Middlesex picked up an exciting 4-2 win over a formidable Hill School team in the semi-final game of the 2023 William W. Barber, Jr. Memorial Tournament. Middlesex got on the scoreboard early with a quick goal and held the 1-0 lead throughout the period; excellent goaltending and strong defense shut down any chances by Hill to get on the scoreboard. During the second period, Middlesex notched back-to-back goals on the power play, and Hill answered back with a goal before the end of the period. Both teams battled back and forth throughout the third period, and Hill found the back of the net with only a few minutes left in the game. As a last-ditch effort, Hill pulled their goalie to try to tie the game and send it into overtime, but Middlesex shut down Hill's 6v5 efforts and tallied a final goal on the empty net to seal their victory. Middlesex heads to the Championship game of the Barber Tournament against Canterbury School.

Canterbury - Barber Tournament Championship

Middlesex earned 2
nd place in the 2023 William W. Barber, Jr. Memorial Tournament after falling to the Canterbury School in the Championship game. Middlesex scored first to take an early lead over Canterbury who tied the game later in the period. Both teams exhibited stellar goaltending and defense throughout the first, and the tie remained unbroken at the end of the period. During the second, Canterbury pulled ahead with a goal and was able to notch two more goals in the third to secure the lead. Although Middlesex was knocking on the door all throughout the game, they were not able to find the back of the net to regain the lead. Middlesex's 2
nd place finish in the Barber tournament was one of the best finishes in recent program history and gives the team significant momentum heading into the start of 2024.Â
