On Wednesday, Middlesex School boarded many buses as most of their sports teams traveled to Tabor Academy for a midweek tilt with the Seawolves. Girls' soccer were hoping to carry their positive momentum from their night game victory last week into this contest, and the opening minutes of the game had both teams handling the ball a bit. Tabor took advantage of a break up front and they tucked a shot into the MX net just five minutes in to take the lead. Middlesex worked hard to adjust to the faster turf surface, while also facing some stern pressure from Tabor. Tabor scored again with roughly ten minutes left in the half, and they went into halftime leading 2-0.
MXGVS made some adjustments at halftime to try and foil the consistent pressure Tabor applied, and they were able to create some more offensive opportunities. Tabor's speed up top proved too difficult to contain, and Tabor added two more goals to their tally in the first twenty minutes of the second half. However, Middlesex maintained their resolve, played hard to the end, and had shots hit the crossbar and post, but weren't able to get any across the goal line. The final result: Tabor 4, Middlesex 0.
Middlesex hits the road again this Saturday, as they travel to Milton to take on the Mustangs. Kick off is scheduled for 3:30p.
