Dexter-Southfield traveled to Middlesex for a highly competitive mid-week clash. The visitors were effective in their pressing and organized at the back for the first 45 minutes, with Haig Atinizian standing out for his well-timed tackles to thwart Middlesex attacks. The best chance of the first half fell to Dexter, as Aidan George and Teddy Fritzinger combined to make two goal line clearances. The second half was a different story, as Middlesex increased their collective intensity and created numerous scoring chances in the first ten minutes. The deadlock was broken when Yared McDonald took a feed from Bear Tibbitt and beat three defenders before hammering the ball inside the near post from 20 yards out. Soon afterwards, McDonald turned provider as he fed Olly Mylon who wriggled out of pressure and unleashed a powerful finish from close range to double the lead for Middlesex. It was Jeff Hernandez's turn next, as the midfielder was played into the middle by Lincoln Graham and took a set up touch before scoring from 25 yards out. It was a strong second half performance after an even first half and credit goes to Dexter for their effort, organization, and relentless attitude. The match marks the fourth clean sheet for keeper Aidan George in the young season. Next up is a Saturday evening matchup under the lights at home against St. Mark's at 6:30pm.Â
