Notes:
Pomfret traveled up to Concord to kick off their competitive 2022 season and proved a stern test for the boys from Middlesex.  The man-of-the-match for Pomfret was keeper Nathan Kikonyogo, who made numerous point-blank saves to thwart some great scoring chances for Middlesex.  The first half saw Middlesex controlling the play and creating several excellent scoring chances, but the finishing touch just was not to be found.  The second half was more of the same and Pomfret was looking to hit Middlesex on the counterattack.  The back line of Zach Miles, Aidan O'Sullivan, and keeper Aidan George managed the game well and held Pomfret to one shot on target from distance.  As the match entered the latter stages, up stepped senior attacker Yared McDonald.  Fellow senior Sky Platt curled a ball into the channel for McDonald to run onto on the left flank.  Once he collected the ball along the byline, McDonald accelerated past two defenders and hammered the ball past the keeper at the near post from a tight angle for the eventual match winner.  The effort level for the visiting Griffins, led by Lawrence Viola, never waned and it was a fun and highly competitive match for the neutrals to watch.  Middlesex had to earn the three points but found their talisman in Yared McDonald who was getting his first minutes of the year after coming off of an injury.  Up next is a visit from Dexter-Southfield at home for Middlesex next Wednesday.
