Notes:
A pair of teams coming off wins in their opening matches last Saturday met for a non-league Class B NEPSAC matchup in Ashburnham.  Middlesex traveled to Cushing Academy for the first mid-week match of the 2022 season and brought their finishing boots with them. Cushing came out on their turf with an organized and relentless pressing system and their compete level was excellent.  Middlesex weathered the initial period of sustained pressure and found the back of the net early when junior Aidan Falvey slipped junior Sinjin Doelitzsch in for a side net finish in the 8th minute.  Soon afterwards it was Falvey's turn to score as he took a feed from senior Lincoln Graham and put the visitors up 2-0.  After some back and forth play for the next 20 minutes, junior Aidan O'Sullivan shaped an inch-perfect 35-yard ball to a streaking Doelitzsch.  After a clean first touch, Doelitzsch lifted the ball past the onrushing keeper from 22 yards out and the ball took one bounce on the goal line and into the roof of the net.  The lead was extended to 4-0 before halftime as Doelitzsch squared a ball to Aidan Falvey 25 yards from net.  Falvey realized the lack of pressure and unleashed an unstoppable driven ball into the top corner of the net.  The contest was put to rest in the first five minutes of the second half, as Doelitzsch completed his hat-trick with a tap-in after some great work by sophomore Olly Mylon and then O'Sullivan buried a corner kick service from junior Jonah Zaas to extend the Middlesex lead to 6-0.  Freshman Quinn Falvey added the final tally 20 minutes later when he took a settled touch from a Bear Tibbitt corner and calmly deposited the ball in the side net.  Cushing battled throughout the match and the score line was not a reflection of their effort and competitive spirit.  For Middlesex, it was Sinjin Doelitzsch's day, as he led the way with three goals and an assist.  Aidan Falvey added two goals and an assist, taking his tally to four goals from the first two matches.  The backline, anchored by sophomore Zach Miles and junior Aidan O'Sullivan, were excellent.  Middlesex is looking forward to playing at home on Saturday as they host Pomfret in another tough NEPSAC Class B contest.
