It was a defensive battle in the first half as both units and goalies played strong to keep the goal scoring opportunities low; however, four different Middlesex shooters finished the play to take a 4-0 lead at the half. The defensive team of Emma Poplyk, Brooke Nye, Charley DiAdamo, and Siena Bernardinelli were relentless and goalie Cogliano was a wall between the posts. Deerfield tallied their first goal in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Zebras answered with two more goals to take a 6-1 lead. Deerfield snuck in two quick goals to cut the deficit, but it wasn't enough to stymie Middlesex as they answered with three more goals to close the game. The Zebras are eager to begin the ISL season against Tabor on Wednesday, April 13th.
