Middlesex traveled to Brooks on a lovely fall Saturday and played a very competitive match. The opening phase was back and forth and played at a frenetic pace. Brooks was gifted a first goal in the 8
th minute as Middlesex allowed a long ball to bounce in their half, misjudged a cross, and put the ball into their own net for an own goal. The game was leveled in the 20
th minute as Olly Mylon won a free kick just outside of the Brooks penalty area. Senior Yared McDonald stepped up and struck a swerving shot that picked up a deflection through the wall and past a helpless Brooks keeper and into the back of the net. The rest of the half was evenly played with Brooks taking the route one option with direct one touch balls from back to front and Middlesex working the ball from inside to outside and creating some dangerous chances from the width. After a 1-1 halftime score, the game broke off of a few regrettable defensive mistakes that gifted Brooks two quick goals in the 56
th and 63
rd minutes. Another goal was added as a Middlesex defender was slow to get the ball off his foot. Middlesex maintained high effort levels for the rest of the match and were rewarded for a flowing move in the final minutes as a combination play sprung Olly Mylon in for a one-on-one with the keeper. Mylon's touch took a deflection onto the foot of Aidan Falvey who calmly slotted the ball into an unguarded net from the top of the penalty area for the final tally of the day. Were it not for a few regrettable defensive moments, the score line would have reflected the competitive nature of the game more accurately. Bertos, Wolper, and Joyce were a handful for Brooks and Olly Mylon was Middlesex's best player on the day.
