Middlesex hosted Lawrence Academy on a Tuesday afternoon and never got out of first gear, falling to the visitors 2-1. Both goals for Lawrence were scored unassisted by freshman Henrick Boahen, who took his two chances of the match really well. Soft defending and sluggish effort levels were not a recipe for success in Middlesex's comeback efforts. The lone goal of the match for Middlesex came as Lawrence tried to play out of the back by passing on the ground for the first and last time of the match. Senior Yared McDonald picked up a misplayed pass from their center back at the top of the penalty area and coasted past the onrushing defender before slotting a reverse ball past Scheibe to level the score at 1-1. Freshman Quinn Falvey put in a nice shift for Middlesex in the second half. The rest of the match was a battle of rugby tactics, as Lawrence hoofed the ball long repeatedly to gain territory and pressure the backline and midfield of Middlesex with physical challenges. The tactic proved successful, as Lawrence won the day and deserved the three points for their effort.Â
