Notes:
Middlesex hosted a talented Rivers squad and created some great scoring chances, but came up short in a competitive 2-1 loss.  The outcome of the game was decided at the penalty spot for Rivers, as they took one penalty in the 65th minute for a handball in the penalty area and were awarded a second penalty with 13 minutes remaining when their attacker was fouled after a short corner routine.  In the first half, Middlesex created some great scoring chances and were rewarded in the 30th minute with the lead as Aidan O'Sullivan finished an easy tap in just six yards from the net from a Jonah Zaas feed.  Teddy Fritzinger had the best scoring chance of the first half as he stripped Rivers' center back of the ball and walked in on a breakaway from 40 yards out only to see his finish drag wide of the left post.  The halftime score was 1-0 to Middlesex and the game was competitive and marked by fluid transitions and effective passing for both sides.  The defensive trio of Quinn Falvey, Zach Miles, and Aidan O'Sullivan did a great job of limiting Rivers' scoring chances throughout the 90 minutes.  Middlesex pushed forward to the last whistle, and almost got on the end of a back post service from just outside the box in the final seconds.  The Middlesex boys should be proud of the effort and organization that they displayed as they learned the hard lesson that results don't always go their way, despite putting forth an excellent team performance.   Credit to a talented Rivers squad on an important league and Class B win.
