Girls’ Cross Country Defeats Winsor on Family Weekend

10/25/2022 9:44:00 AM

On a beautiful day at Middlesex, Girls' Cross Country raced to a dominant win against Winsor, taking eight of the top nine spots. Winsor's Meg Madison ran a spectacular race from the front, taking first place and setting a new course record of 19:11. Sadie Millett led the way for Middlesex in second, followed by Cassidy Bruno, who improved her personal best time for the fifth race in a row to take third. Angela Huffer, Anika Ata, Mitchell Ladd, and Catherine Bain, the next four Middlesex runners, committed to racing strategically as a tight pack, crossing the line within 11 seconds of each other for fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh place respectively. Stella Curwin-Amfitheatrof and Kate McBride followed not far behind in eighth and ninth, both finishing before Winsor's second runner.

McBride scored the first points toward a dominant win for the JV team, and Maggie Cabot (13th), Sawyer Rogers (17th), Sophia Yang (18th), and Florence Morlock (20th) also ran fantastic JV races. In this JV race within a race, four beloved seniors crossed the home course finish line for the last time; the team recognized seniors Megan Shi (24th), Jade Xiao (25th), Charlotte Wolford (34th), and Ellie Ragosa (37th) for their invaluable leadership and contributions to the team during their time at Middlesex. The team also celebrated several personal best times, including big improvements by EJ Hemingway (27th), Katie Chen (30th), and Gaby Alonso (35th).

The team looks forward to facing Tabor, Thayer, and Milton at the Tabor home course this weekend.
