The Governor's Academy boys' team put up some stiff resistance to the Middlesex attack and proved to be a tough test on an idyllic fall afternoon in Concord. Huck Trafton grafted in the midfield and Salvatore Giugliano was keen to shoot in the first half as the keeper, Matvie Amchislavskiy, turned away numerous chances to keep the match deadlocked. The Govs goal was breeched in the 38
th minute as Danny Cai ran aggressively down the flank and threaded the needle along the edge of the six-yard box for Lincoln Graham to tap in unopposed. The halftime score was tight at 1-0, but Middlesex found another gear in the first 18 minutes of the second half and found the net four more times. Lincoln Graham started the wave with a close-range finish just over two minutes into the half. Yared McDonald was the provider for that goal as well as another close-range finish for Jonah Zaas just a minute later. Olly Mylon smashed a near post finish after accelerating past the last defender to extend the lead for Middlesex. Senior Yared McDonald made it 5-0 with a thundering finish from the top of the box off a great feed from Sinjin. Doelitzsch. Keepers Aidan George and George Leness combined for the clean sheet and there were great moments for seniors Ben Hitzrot and Leo Vargas in the attack. The score line does not accurately reflect the effort of the Govs boys and the referee did a great job while not needing to brandish any cards from his pocket. A hard fought and fairly played contest did justice to a nearly perfect day in the autumn sun.Â
