Middlesex dropped its first points of the 2022 season and conceded their first goals on Milton Academy's turf field. The first half saw the majority of possession go to Milton Academy, as Middlesex adjusted to the numbers thrown forward and figured out the tactical battle over the course of the first 45 minutes. Matias Kemper-Matia was particularly dangerous with his movement for Milton, but the Middlesex backline of O'Sullivan, Miles, and Platt held firm in front of keeper Aidan George. The first half ended deadlocked at 0-0. While Milton certainly has several talented players, the match was decided by one person in the second half. Junior forward Kaan Inanoglu bagged two top-class goals out of nothing. The first in the second minute of the second half and the other with only eight minutes remaining to seal the victory. Despite the two second half goals, Middlesex presented significantly more threat in the second half and much of the play was in the Milton defensive half. Keeper Aidan George stood out as a top performer, making several point-blank saves to keep the contest a tight one. Credit goes to Milton for handing Middlesex their first defeat of the season, and especially to Inanoglu for being the one player they couldn't contain on the day.
