Middlesex welcomed Phillips Academy to Chapel Field on Wednesday. Andover came out of the gates quickly, tallying the first goal of the contest just three minutes in. Andover continued to apply pressure throughout the first half, and they were able to put two more on the board before the halftime whistle. 

The Zebras had a decision to make at halftime: succumb to the pressure, or be resilient in the face of adversity. To the players' credit, the girls came out determined in the second half, matching Andover's intensity and tilting the field more in their favor. Mia Williams '23 got the home team on the board 10 minutes into the second half, off an assist from Taryn Gillis '22. Williams potted a second tally in the 68th minute to pull Middlesex within one. Although MXGVS kept up the pressure all over the field, they were unable to put home an equalizer before the final whistle blew. A disappointing result, but a valiant effort put forth by the entire team.

Middlesex travels to Southborough on Saturday to open their ISL slate against St. Mark's.
