Middlesex hosted the Nobles boys on a chilly Wednesday afternoon in early November and looked like they were destined for a positive result after the first 45 minutes. The backline limited the chances of the Nobles forwards and the game looked even in spells. The breakthrough came in the 20
th minute when George Lin played an attacking restart into the feet of Yared McDonald who spun his defender and was dragged down going to goal in the box for a penalty kick. Lin stepped up and calmly sent the Nobles keeper the wrong way to bury the spot kick for the 1-0 lead. That 1-0 lead was carried into the halftime interval, and the game looked to be a tight one until a series of decisions in the defensive half, both with the ball and defensively, cost Middlesex in a fashion that doesn't resemble any performance of recent memory. Nobles went on to score four goals through a series of combined turnovers and defensive lapses. In the end, the competitive level of the visitors simply exceeded the home team and credit is due to the Nobles boys for their dogged determination to attack at the vulnerable moments. The Middlesex boys will regroup and hit the training ground on Thursday with a quick turnaround for Friday's match.
