The Middlesex Girls' Soccer team made the short trip to Groton Wednesday to take on the Spartans of Lawrence Academy. It was a beautiful early October afternoon, with temperatures hitting 70 degrees at kick-off. It was Lawrence who got off to the hot start, scoring two quick goals before Middlesex could settle into the contest. LA added another tally before halftime to extend the lead to three.
Undeterred, MXGVS bounced back, and played a bit more aggressively as they tried to cut into the lead. Ally Haines '24 obliged, scoring her first career goal early in the second stanza. Lawrence was quick to respond, however, moving downfield quickly on the ensuing kick off and striking back, pushing their lead back to three. Mia Williams '23 added a second goal for the visitors, and the Zebras had great pressure in the latter stages of the game, but Lawrence was not to be denied, with the final score showing 4-2 in their favor.Â
Middlesex returns back to the friendly confines of Chapel Field for a Friday Night game against Brooks. This is also a Coaches vs. Cancer, with the girls raising money for cancer awareness. It should be a great night! If you wish to donate, please visitÂ
