It was another beautiful day for New England cross country at the storied (though recently modified) Brooks cross country course. The Middlesex squad continued their winning ways, besting the host squad by a score of 20-41 as well as the incomplete team from Lawrence. The race was won by the strong and talented Brooks first runner, who led from the start to secure the victory and (new) course record. After challenging for the race lead through the first mile, Sadie Millett '24 hung on for 2nd place. Not far behind was a pack of Middlesex seniors in a new order for the third time in as many weeks, with Josie Silk '22 in 3rd, Mariam Craig '22 in 4th, Annabelle Rogers '22 in 5th, and Grace Millett '22 in 6th. The Brooks second runner finished strong to finish 7th place, but the rest of the top 10 was Middlesex sophomores, with Kate McBride '22 in 8th, Florence Morlock '22 in 9th, and Mitchell Ladd '22 in 10th. With her placement on our team, this puts Mitchell at the top of the JV scoring as the leader of our second seven. While neither Lawrence nor Brooks had a full JV team, the Middlesex runners finished well across the roster, with particularly impressive running coming from the second senior pack of Charlotte Bain '22 (16th), Sophia Bueno '22 (18th), Jenny Phan '22 (19th), Emma Caffrey '22 (20th), and Neha Kommineni '22 (21st). Catherine Bain '25 ran a much improved race from two weeks ago, and Charlotte Wolford '23 made her 2021 debut. Linda Qin '22 was again an essential part of the team's success, managing like a pro despite the fact this was only her second away race. The team is hoping to take some strength and experience from the Brooks hills to our first quad meet on the fast and flat course of Tabor next weekend.
