On yet another classic fall New England afternoon, Middlesex waged a hard fought battle against Milton team this past Saturday, with both teams applying solid pressure on each other's defensive lines throughout the game. Middlesex was able to absorb Milton's sustained pressure during the first half, keeping the scoreboard blank thanks to the great play by goalkeeper Grace Bishop '24.
Middlesex was able to turn the tide a bit in the second half, as they scored a goal early on to break the tie. A great run by Mia Williams '24 initiated the play, and following a series of nice passes, Ella Matteucci '22 put the ball in the back of the net for her first goal of the season. MXGVS continued to apply pressure, and Charley DiAdamo '23 doubled the lead when she fired in a free kick from the right side. Milton was not to be outdone, and put on a late game charge, but Bishop was up to the task, earning her first career clean sheet.
The Zebras hit the road next week, as they head to visit Lawrence Academy on Wednesday.
