Boys' Cross Country Sweeps at Tabor

10/11/2021 11:00:00 AM

On an overcast & cool day, the Middlesex Boys ventured down to Marion, Mass. for their second quad meet of the season. Coming off a few tough races with particularly difficult hills, the Middlesex boys were excited to race on the flat expanses of southern Massachusetts. Matty Wing led the team in his first race of the season, running a smooth 17:02, followed by a hard charging co-captain Peter Favero in a new PR of 17:30. After securing the top two spots in the invite, the Middlesex Boys' Varsity managed to fit their entire scoring five among the top ten individuals of meet, securing a commanding victory over the field. Hayden Emery maintained his position as a varsity standout with another PR of 18:20, quickly followed by Henry Horvath and Vedant Deokar in 18:22 &18:28 respectively. Will Jevon shattered the 20 minute barrier for the first time in impressive fashion by outkicking a throng of Milton & St. Mark's athletes, and despite a nasty fall earlier in the race. Ben Luo also broke through 20 minutes for this first time this season to round out the top 7 varsity.

There were many impressive results among the JV as well, led by Joey Caspar for the third week in a row. Joey & Raymond Li worked together throughout the race to help secure victories over St. Mark's & Tabor, but the depth of Milton prevailed. Nick Constantino, Michael Cheng, & Tim Cassidy rounded out the scoring JV and all were able to secure new PRs in the process.

Overall the Middlesex Boys made great strides over the past week with their organization and enthusiasm. The positive team environment was infectious, with several other athletes from other teams asking to join the team's cheering squad. As they enter the second half of the season, the boys are excited to see where all their newfound fitness can take them!
