Middlesex hosted Exeter today and prevailed in a nailbiter just before both teams head to the Squash Nationals. Middlesex was strong today in the middle of the line-up, with senior Averill Emery using pinpoint shots to the back corners to win 3-0 at #2, junior Natalie McCall using power and court coverage to win 3-0 at #3, and junior Amelia Stevens hitting sharply to the corners to win 3-0 at #4. Sophomore Marissa Fadely at #6 and senior Dahlia Galante at #5 both played dramatic see-sawing matches that weren't decided until the final point, both players covering the court well and countering strong attacking shots from their opponents--Marissa winning 11-9 in the fifth game and Dahlia losing 11-9 in the fifth game--both exciting, tense matches. With Marissa's close win at #6, MX nosed its way to victory over a determined Exeter squad. Tomorrow the team heads to the National Championships in Connecticut.
