The Varsity Boys' Hockey team opened the 2020 year with solid a solid victory over Academie Saint Louis from Quebec City, 4-3. Oliver Cote put Academie Saint Louis on the board with a wrist shot from the right side to take a 1-0 lead. Middlesex started to gain momentum as the period wore on and tallied the teams first goal from senior Cedrick Paradis, who coincidentally attended the Academie Saint Louis before joining Middlesex. This was the first of three power play goals for Middlesex in this game. Joe Freeman sailed a wrist shot from the point that found its way past the goaltender to take a 2 -1 lead at the end of the first period. Henry Cohen, who has been on a bit of a scoring streak, scored at 11:57 of the second period and Pavel Akmaev stole a puck late in the period a fired a quick shot that eluded the Academie Saint Louis goalie on a great forechecking effort.
But the opponent fought back hard in the third period and managed to score two goals at 10:17 and 14:33 to make it a game in the final few minutes. Middlesex used three goalies in the game with Jordan Busner, Nate Crozier, and AJ Finta all backstopping the team for the win.
