Boys' Varsity Cross Country Sweeps Brooks, 15-50

9/23/2019 3:33:00 PM

As hot and sultry weather prevailed over the green hillocks and pleasant pastures of Middlesex School, the boys cross-country team took to the home course once again to face off against ISL rival Brooks.

Looking calm, controlled and undaunted by the unseasonable conditions, junior Caleb Gartner was again the race winner, leading a tight Middlesex pack to the finish in 17:25. Sophomore Cooper Austen, junior David Latham and junior Mac Hadden followed within seconds, while junior Andrew Harris rounded out the top five. Juniors Cannon Caspar and Connor Cross scored displacement points for the opposition, making it a perfect 15-50 scoreline for the varsity boys.

Freshman Matt Wing was once again the clear winner of the junior varsity contest in 19:24, with freshman Peter Favero hot on his heels. Junior Zan Danoff finished third in a personal-best 19:50, well ahead of the first varsity runner from Brooks. Juniors Gavin Cassidy and Caleb Krueger also scored team points, while junior Sean McLaughlin and sophomore Adam Ewing displaced the fastest JV runner from Brooks to complete another 15-50 victory.

The Zebras will hit the road this week, traveling south to St. Mark's School for their first quad meet of the young season.
