Girls’ Soccer Loses Physical Battle to Andover, 1-0

9/19/2019 10:37:00 AM

The Middlesex Girls' Soccer team concluded their pre-ISL slate with a matchup against the Big Blue of Andover on a spectacular September afternoon at Chapel Field.

Andover came out of the gates well, applying consistent pressure on Middlesex all over the field, but the Zebras held firm to keep the opposition at bay. Middlesex was able to generate a few solid scoring opportunities later on in the half before Andover caught Middlesex on a counterattack and cashed in an odd-player situation to take a 1-0 lead into half.

Middlesex exerted their will a bit more in the second half, and as a result were able to control more of the possession. Andover had answers for every Middlesex challenge, however, and the final whistle came a bit too soon for the Zebras. It was a tough, physical battle with both teams playing hard on the ball across the pitch.

Kudos to a strong defensive effort by our back line: Daisy Boynton '20, Nico Roark '20, Hannah O'Gara '20, Abby Murphy '23, and Charley DiAdamo '23, along with goalkeepers Annabel Austen '22 and Ali Joseph '20.

Thank you to the wonderful support from family, students and friends.

Middlesex travels to St. Mark's Saturday to open their ISL schedule.
