Middlesex jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first inning of play against Thayer on Monday but Thayer battled back for 9 runs in the 5th and 6th innings to take a 10-3 victory.
Thayer took the early lead on a leadoff homer in the top of the first but Middlesex answered with three in the bottom half of the inning. Cole Cleary drew a leadoff walk, and Kyle Heath followed with an infield single. Kyle Wolff drove in Cleary with a double and Kevin Campbell followed with an RBI hit as well. Joey Belsanti drove in Wolff with a sacrifice fly that made the score 3-1 after one.
Cole Cleary made that score hold up through four innings of work on the mound, allowing two hits and striking out five. Thayer's offense exploded for 10 hits over the rest of the game, however, and they cruised to the win.
