Despite a long bus ride through Memorial Day traffic, the Zebras made it to the field at St. George's for the final game of the season.  With a truncated warm-up, the Zebras has no problem getting on the board with fast breaks created by the midfield and two goals by senior captain, Alex Fehnel (assisted by Carly Tilson and Lizzie Ayer).  St. George's came back with two goals of their own, but Middlesex came barreling back, scoring four unanswered goals thanks to points from senior captain Ris Hurley, Hayden Monahan, Hannah Barron, and Ham Simmons.  St. George's notched two more in the half, but the Zebras continued scoring with a goal and an assist from Fehnel, and points for from Hurley and Tilson to make it 8-4 at the halftime break.  In the second half, both teams had segments of momentum, but the Dragons slowly crept back into the game. With nine minutes remaining, the Zebras had a a four goal lead, but Middlesex had to play a man-down for two minutes giving the Dragons an edge.  The Dragons then had their own yellow card to make it a 6v6 offense and defense.  The Dragons chipped away at the lead, and tied the game with 1:55 remaining.  The defensive unit stiffened in the remaining minutes, sending the game to sudden victory overtime.  The overtime was thrilling with both teams hitting posts and missing the cage by inches.  The Zebra defense played excellent in the OT, and the offense was just short of finishing the play on several occasions.  In the second overtime, both teams had chances and the play was back-and-forth.  Finally, with 1:02 remaining in the game, the only two seniors on the team combined for the winning goal when Alex Fehnel passed the ball the Ris Hurley for the win.  A fitting end to a terrific career for these two seniors who represent seven years of Middlesex Varsity Lacrosse and a season of excellent leadership.
