Girls' Varsity Lacrosse Falls at Governor's

5/23/2019 11:44:00 AM

The Zebras came out with a big defensive stop to start the game and keep the score at 0-0 for the first five minutes.  Unfortunately, the Zebras were a bit flat-footed at both ends of the field.  The defense gave up four unanswered goals and the attack was a bit stationary with a lack of fire.  Govs also grabbed the first five draws giving them more opportunities in the attacking end.  The Zebras hit a strong five-minute stride from 13-8 minutes remaining when the two seniors, Ris Hurley and Al Fehnel combined with freshmen Hannah Barron and Abby Pratt for a three-goal streak to bring the deficit to one.  Unfortunately, the Zebras couldn't maintain the momentum and Govs answered with three of their own to close out the half.   In the second half, the Zebras were much more active on attack; however, the Govs goalie was on fire and stopped the attack, despite good movement and scoring opportunities.  The defense was hot and cold, following a weak crash with a brilliant double team.  Overall, the team didn't play their best today, but they will look to close out the season with a good battle against St. George's on Friday evening.
