The Middlesex baseball team pounded out 10 hits and scored in every inning but the first in an 8-2 victory over Brooks in ISL baseball play on Wednesday.
Brooks jumped on top 1-0 in the top of the first on a wild pitch, but Middlesex answered with two runs in the bottom of the second to take a 2-1 lead. Kevin Campbell '20 reached second on an error, was bunted to third by Joey Belsanti '21 and scored on an RBI single by Jared Arnold '19. A walk and an error, and a wild pitch helped score the second Middlesex run.
Middlesex scored single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings on a Campbell sacrifice fly, an RBI double by Cole Cleary '20 and a balk to make the score 5-2.
The Zebras put the game away with a 3 run sixth. Eoin Morrissey '22 singled, stole second, and advanced to third on a Cleary infield hit. Kyle Heath '21 laid down a perfect squeeze bunt to score Morrissey and reached first safely himself. RBI singles by Kyle Wolff '22 and Arnold rounded out the scoring.
Cleary, Wolff, Campbell and Arnold all had two hits on the day to pace the Middlesex attack. Belsanti got the win on the mound with four innings of work, and Wolff shut the door while striking out seven over the final three innings.
Middlesex returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Belmont Hill for a 2:00 start.
