We could not be more proud of the effort our team gave on Friday night against a talented Lawrence team. In the first few minutes of the game, Middlesex came out attacking and took an early, albeit brief lead. The Zebras were able to maintain that level of intensity throughout the game, which is why we kept it close. The score was 19-16 with a few seconds to go, when Lawrence's star player hit a half court three at the buzzer to make it 22-16 at the half.
In the second half, Middlesex closed the gap. This was great basketball from the 10 minute mark until 3 minutes to go. Both teams were hitting big shots and the lead switched almost every position. Notably, Poplyk hit some big threes to keep Middlesex in it. In the final minutes, Lawrence went up by 5 points, and Middlesex went cold from the floor. Lawrence hit foul shots to give them the 9 point lead.Â
Kudos to Lawrence player, Nicolette Arnold for hitting her 1,000th point early in the game. Â
