In front of one of the largest crowds seen at a Middlesex Hockey game in recent years, the Boys' Varsity team, led by its senior class, defeated St. George's 3-0 on Saturday February 23. Senior Joe Stanizzi recorded his sixth shutout of the season as the team won an intense battle in front of a raucous crowd. The teams traded scoring chances in the first period with neither team able to produce as each team only allowed six shots on goal. Middlesex then opened the scoring at 11:04 of the period on a power play. Jared Arnold scored off the right post after Alex Rivet drove to the net from the opposite side and his shot was stopped with the rebound coming to Arnold who batted it in. On the next shift and carrying the momentum, Kyle Heath led a rush entering on the right wing side and laid a beautiful back diagonal pass to Alex Rivet, who took a blast that went "bar down" to expand the lead to 2-0 at 11:36 of the period. The third period was tight checking at both ends with limited scoring opportunities coming at both ends of the ice. At 17:31 of the third period, junior forward Cedrick Paradis skated a loose puck out of the Middlesex zone, (with the Saint George's goalie pulled) and made a well timed forward pass to senior defenseman Henry Andres, who had worked hard to join the rush. Andres finished it off into the open net and the celebration was on. It was a fitting end to a team that saw a lot of injuries and adversity but continued to work hard right down to the closing seconds of the season.
