Boys' Varsity Basketball Sweeps Huckins-Rouse Holiday Tournament

Middlesex Boys' Varsity Basketball hosted the annual Huckins-Rouse Holiday Tournament, December 20 and 21. The Zebras were joined by Portsmouth Abbey, BB&N, Holderness, Berwick, St. Mark's, and Groton for two full days of basketball. 

Middlesex 72, Portsmouth Abbey 53:

Middlesex exploded out of exams with a 48 point first half and led PA 48-20.  Onyera Chibuogwu had 14 of his game high 16 points in the half.  Tyler Gelormini contributed 14 points and junior George Fulton made a strong impact off the bench with 8 points as Middlesex rolled to a 72-53 win in the opening game of the Huckins-Rouse Tournament.

Middlesex 54, Holderness 37:

In the sescond game of the Huckins-Rouse Tournament, MX and Holderness played an even first half and were tied at 26 at the break.  The MX defense went on to stifle Holderness to just 11 second half points as the Zebras pulled away for a 54-37 victory. MX was led by Anthony Porras with 14 points, Tyler Gelormini's 11 points and 7 assists, Onyera Chibuogwu had 8 points and 9 rebounds, and Matt Pelletier had 9 points.  MX is now 4-1 on the season and has won 3 games in a row.

Middlesex 63, Groton 47:

In the third round game of the Huckins-Rouse Tournament, MX hosted ISL rival Groton. MX led at the half 26-16 and went on to the 63-47 non league victory and the team's 4th consecutive win.  MX was led by Onyera Chibuogwu, who had 14 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds.  Anthony Porras contributed 13 points, Tyler Gelormini had 10 points and 7 rebounds, and Sahnai Swain-Price had 9 points and 11 boards off the bench for the 5-1 Zebras.  The two teams will meet again in February for their annual league battle. 

Middlesex 71, Berwick 43:

MX finished the 2019 Huckins-Rouse Tournament with its fourth game in 26 hours against Berwick Academy.  The Zebras led 35-29 at the half and then turned up the second half defense, once again limiting Berwick to just 14 points.  MX was led by All-Tournament team member and senior captain Tyler Gelormin's 27 points and 6 rebounds.  Sahnai Swain-Price had 10 points and 8 rebounds off the bench, Anthony Porras had 13 points and 5 assists, and Stuart McCallum had a game high 1o rebounds.  MX finished the tournament 4-0 and now rides a 5 game winning streak and a 6-1 record heading into 2020.
