Girls’ Soccer Impressive in 1-0 Loss to Pingree

11/2/2019 10:02:00 AM

Middlesex Girls' Soccer hosted Pingree for their final non-ISL contest of the season. The game was shifted to Kravis Field due to some standing water on Chapel Field from the torrential downpours that roared in over Halloween night.

Pingree came into the contest with a 14-0-1 record, so Middlesex was looking to take on the spoiler role. Middlesex began the game with great energy, and were able to mount some decent offensive opportunities, but no real serious goal threats. Pingree countered with some chances of their own, and it appeared that the teams would go into halftime scoreless. After a good goal scoring went unanswered, Pingree countered quickly down field and found an open player to break the tie on the final play of the half.

Middlesex mustered up the energy to get back on their feet and fight on in the second half, and the girls fought hard throughout. They were able to create a few more chances, but the Pingree goalkeeper was up to the challenge every time. Once again, the final whistle came too soon, and the game finished as a 1-0 win for the visitors.

Middlesex close out their ISL ledger with two league games next week. Wednesday they  travel to Cambridge to face BB&N, before hosting St. George's on the final Saturday of the season.
