10/9/2019 8:52:00 AM

The boys of Middlesex cross country continued their winning ways in Byfield on a gorgeous autumn Saturday, sweeping all six contests against host Governor's Academy, defending ISL champions Tabor and St. Sebastian's School.

Sophomore Cooper Austen picked up his first ISL victory as he and junior Caleb Gartner cruised to the line shoulder to shoulder in 17:52, with junior David Latham only a second behind. Terrific races from juniors Mac Hadden (5th overall) and Andrew Harris (6th overall) ensured a banner day for the Zebras, with freshman Matt Wing and junior Connor Cross rounding out the first seven. Middlesex took down Tabor 17-41, prevailed over St. Seb's 15-48 and surpassed Governor's 15-50.

Junior Cannon Caspar easily won the junior varsity race within a race, finishing in 18:47 ahead of varsity runners from every other school. Freshmen Peter Favero and junior Caleb Krueger were close behind in season-best times, while junior Zan Danoff and sophomore Stone Shen accounted for the rest of the scoring. Junior Sean McLaughlin and freshman Henry Horvath took the six and seven spots as the second seven earned a 21-34 victory over Tabor, defeated Govs 15-49, and earned a win over St. Seb's by default.

Groton Day looms in hearts and minds of all Middlesex fans, as the ISL-leading Zebras of Concord will put their undefeated record on the line against the Zebras of Groton this Friday.
